Used mascara wands are finding new uses as the Appalachian Wildlife Refuge. It is a small, non-profit rehabilitation center in western North Carolina. They receive numerous mascara products from around the country. What some people don’t know, is old makeup can be greatly appreciated here. The rehabilitation center suggests donating the used product before going to the trash.

Think about it, when small animals come in for vet checkups, bigger combs and flee brushes may be too big. That’s when an old mascara wand comes in handy! These tiny tools can get into places where cleaning scabs are too difficult to reach! Sometimes, the injury can be really severe, and just by using the mascara, the animal’s life just may have been saved!
