Zendaya Makes History

This past Sunday, September 20th the formal Disney channel actress Zendaya (24) made history winning Outstanding Lead actress in a Drama Series at the Emmys, she has now become the youngest actress to win in this category. Zendaya received this Emmy because of her well-played role of a teenage drug addict named Rue in HBO’s hit show Euphoria. Zendaya said “I just want to say like there is hope in the young people out there.” She proceeds to say “ I know that our TV show doesn’t always feel like a great example of that- but there is hope in our young people and I just want to say to all my peers out there doing work in the streets , ‘I see you, I admire you, I thank you” Not only did Zendaya make history being the youngest person to win in her category but this was also the second time a Black actress won this award, The first being Viola Davis who played the role of Annalise Keating in the series How to Get Away with Murder.
