Movie Review: Lion King 2019

Movie Review: Lion King (2019)

Director Jon Favreau made it his duty to bring back a classic film “The Lion King” with a whole new way of interpreting the film, with an amazing cast. It was released July 19, 2019 with Simba being played by Donald Glover and JD McCrary and his Father (Mufasa) played by James Earl Jones. The rest of this films amazing characters were played by Beyoncé as Nala, Seth Rogan as Pumbaa, Chiwetel Ejiofor as Scar, Billy Eichner as Timon, Alfre Woodard as Sarabi, Florence Kasumba as Shenzi, Eric Andre as Azizi, and Keegan-Micheal Key as Kamari. The Lion King movie has already grossed over $361 million at the domestic box office, and $638 million overseas. Out of the US in China it has made $115 million, the UK with $48 million, and Brazil with $44 million. For the movie to not be a complete copy of the original 1994 version they changed some of the scenes. One of the scene’s is when Pumbaa getting chased by Nala, in the original Pumbaa says when he gets trapped underneath a log is “She’s gonna eat me!” but in the remake they got rid of the line. In the scene of the song “Can you feel the love the tonight” they changed Pumbaa and Timon bursting into tears after they finished the song. For the scene when Simba, Nala, Timon and Pumbaa are planning on taking Scar there are planning of using Pumbaa as “live bait” in the original there’s a hula scene but in the remake, they use Beauty and the Beast’s “Be Our Guest”. The last scene they changed in the remake is when Pumbaa and Timon are getting chased by the hyena’s, in the original the hyena’s call Pumbaa a pig and say’s the phrase, “They called me Mr Pig!” but they got rid of the scene and said instead they change it to the Pumbaa getting upset over being called “Chubby”
