Lightning Destroy Rangers at Home! (11/14/19)

On Thursday, November 14th, the Tampa Bay Lightning were scheduled to play the New York Rangers, at Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida.

After their first 4-1 loss against the Rangers on October 29th, the Lightning were hoping they could beat the Rangers this time. After the Lightning swept the Sabres, they were also hoping they could continue their winning streak.

For the Lightning, Andrei Vasilevskiy was in net and for the Rangers, Alexandar Georgiev was in net. The first period of the game, was very intense and busy! The Lightning’s Luke Shenn, Alex Killorn, Nikita Kucherov, and Ondre Palat scored a total of four goals in a time span of only six minutes in. The Rangers’ Chris Kreider, scored a goal too, putting the Lightning at a 4-1 lead in the first.

In the second period, the Lightning dominated again. Lightning’s Steven Stamkos, Pat Maroon, Kevin Shattenkirk, and Alex Killorn, scored four goals total, putting them at an 8-1 lead. In the third period, the Rangers’ Filip Chytil scored two goals. The Lightning’s Yanni Gourde then scored a goal. The final score was 9-3, Lightning. The three stars of the game were Nikita Kucherov (Lightning) with one goal and three assists, Alex Killorn (Lightning) with two goals and one assist, and Kevin Shattenkirk (Lightning) with one goal and one assist.

The Lightning struck again! Their record following this game, is 9-5-2 and they are still 6th in the Atlantic Division. They are now on a three game winning streak, and hope to continue this streak against the Winnipeg Jets at home, on November 16, 2019. Make sure to tune in at 4:00 PM EST!
