Regardless of the 3-4 loss against the Winnipeg Jets this past Saturday, there was something great that did come out of it. Steven Stamkos, the Lightning’s all-star Captain, marked his 400 goal milestone.

In the 3rd period, against the Jets on Saturday, Stamkos scored his 400th goal, 17:44 left in the game. This is also his 7th goal of the season. His goal was assisted by Victor Hedman and Anthony Cirelli. Stamkos had stated after the loss, “It’s still pretty surreal, you never envision scoring that many goals in the NHL, and hopefully more to come.” Hedman, who assisted on Stamkos’ 400th goal, had stated, “It’s an unreal accomplishment by an unreal player, I’m super proud of him and super happy for him.” Stamkos and Hedman have been playing together since 2009, and are known as one of the most successful power duos in the NHL.

Stamkos is the 9th player in the NHL (actively playing) , joining Alex Ovechkin, Sydney Crosby, and others that have marked the 400 goal milestone. Last season, Stamkos broke the Lightning franchise goal record with No.384.

According to Jon Cooper, the Lightning’s head coach, “Everybody was really down after the loss, there was genuine happiness for Stamkos in the locker-room. It kind of sucked the bite out of the loss.”

Regardless of the loss against the Winnipeg Jets, there was a great up-side to it. Stamkos is one of the best players in the NHL, and has been for many years. He is making his way to the Hockey Hall of Fame, slowly but surely. Hopefully one day, Stamkos and the Lightning can work together as a team, to win Stamkos the Stanley Cup he deserves.

Make sure to tune in tomorrow, 11/19/2019, to watch the Lightning play the Stanley Cup champions, the St.Louis Blues, at Enterprise Center in St.Louis, MO, at 8:00 PM EST!
