This past week, from November 25th to November 30th, the Tampa Bay Lightning had lost 3/4 games they played.
Playing against the Buffalo Sabres on the 25th, they actually won 5-2. After this win, their “game” kinda went downhill. They lost against the St. Louis Blues, on November 27th at home, with a final score of 4-3. I went to the Blues game at home, and I have to say, the game was very intense and close. They almost tied it at the very few last seconds, but the Stanley Cup champions made that impossible for them to achieve. They are now 0-4 against the Blues, this season and last season combined.
On November 29th, the Lightning played against the Washington Capitals. They were 3-1 after the second period, but two of the Capitals’ players scored on us, tying the game to go into overtime. In overtime, Capitals’ player, Dmitry Orlov scored, making the final score 4-3 Capitals. The Capitals have always been a tough team to beat, since they beat us in the ECF in 2018, then went on to win the Stanley Cup against the Vegas Knights.
Finally, on November 30th, the Lightning played the Carolina Hurricanes at home. Everyone thought this would be an easy dub, but not quite. In first period, three of the Hurricanes’ players scored on us. Second period was scoreless, and in third period, Brayden Point and Tyler Johnson scored a total of two goals, but were unable to tie up the game. The final score was 3-2 Hurricanes.
The Lightning’s record currently is 12-9-3 and they are 6th in the Atlantic division. Compared to their last few years, this is upsetting. If the season were to end today, the Lightning would not be making it to the playoffs. They have gotten extremely close the past years to win the cup. The Lightning played against the Chicago Blackhawks in the finals in 2016, but lost. In 2017, the Lightning lost to the Pittsburgh Penguins in the ECF, then the Penguins ended up winning the Stanley Cup. In 2018, the Lightning lost to the Capitals in the ECF, then the Capitals went to win the cup. In the 2018 – 2019 season, the Lightning finished 62-16-4. They broke many records last year, and Nikita Kucherov and Andrei Vasilevskiy won trophies based off their performance that season. They unfortunately got swept first round against the Columbus Blue Jackets.
The Tampa Bay Lightning might make a comeback, but that requires a lot of teamwork. Maybe Cooper should be fired? Many fans think so. Something needs to be changed if the Lightning want to make the playoffs. If the St.Louis Blues can be one of the worst teams in the league, then come back and win the Stanley Cup (in 2018-2019 season), anything and everything is possible with enough teamwork.
